The Zinc Powder Replacement Process is a reliable and highly efficient method for recovering gold from cyanide-based gold-bearing solutions. Positioned immediately after the leaching stage, this process accelerates gold recovery and produces high-grade gold mud suitable for smelting.

Key Process Steps

This method includes several well-defined stages that ensure optimal gold extraction and recovery:

Preparation: Grinding and classifying raw ore to improve leaching efficiency.

Concentration & Dehydration: Enhancing gold grade before chemical treatment.

Leaching & Washing: Dissolving gold into cyanide solution and washing away impurities.

Purification: Removing remaining contaminants to produce a clean gold-bearing solution.

Critical Post-Leaching Stages

Deoxygenation

Dissolved oxygen negatively affects the zinc–gold replacement reaction. To prevent this, the purified gold solution enters a vacuum deoxygenation tower where oxygen is efficiently removed.

Zinc Powder Replacement

Controlled amounts of zinc powder are added to the deoxygenated solution, triggering the gold displacement reaction. Automated feeders regulate zinc dosage, reducing oxidation, clumping, and reagent waste.

The resulting high-grade gold mud is collected and sent for smelting, producing gold bullion with minimal further refining.
